Propagating Roses with Tomato Slices

The idea of using tomato slices to propagate roses is intriguing but lacks scientific support. Roses and tomatoes belong to different plant families, making this method unreliable. Instead, proven methods like stem cuttings should be used.

Stem Cutting Method for Rose Propagation:

Materials Needed:

Healthy rose plant, pruning shears, rooting hormone (optional), potting mix, small pots, plastic bag or dome.

Steps:

Select a healthy stem (6-8 inches long) with several leaf nodes.

Cut the stem at a 45-degree angle below a leaf node, remove flowers/buds.

Optionally dip the cut end in rooting hormone.

Plant the cutting 2 inches deep in well-draining potting mix.

Cover with plastic for humidity, place in bright indirect light (65-75Β°F).

Keep soil moist, mist regularly.

Roots should form in 4-6 weeks. Transplant once roots are established.
