1. Corn: The tall stalks provide structural support, allowing beans to climb toward the sunlight.

Setting Up the Milpa System

1. Site Selection: Choose a fertile area with ample sunlight. Light clearing may be needed to prepare the space.
2. Soil Preparation: Manually clear and loosen the soil, ensuring the top layer of organic matter is preserved.
3. Staggered Planting:
   • First, sow corn as it requires more time to germinate and grow.
