Grow garlic at home using simple methods learned from a gardener. By using sprouted garlic cloves and a few materials, you can enjoy fresh garlic greens without needing a traditional garden.
Necessary materials include sprouted garlic cloves, a clear glass container (around 250 ml), and warm water.
To get started, choose cloves that have a small green sprout or cut the tip off a whole bulb to encourage sprouting. Prepare a transparent glass container to easily observe the development of roots and shoots. Place each garlic clove, with its skin intact, along the sides of the container, ensuring the sprouted end is facing upward. Fill the container with warm water, being careful not to fully submerge the cloves.
Next, position the container in a bright location for about a week. Regularly check the water level, replacing it as needed, and move the container out of direct sunlight if the tips of the cloves start to brown.
Once the shoots reach at least 8 cm, use scissors to cut them. Harvest only what you need, as garlic greens lose their flavor quickly. Be aware that the cloves will not produce new shoots after the first harvest.
This method is perfect for small spaces and allows you to enjoy fresh garlic greens at home without requiring a traditional garden.
